At the Polk City trailhead, restrooms are located about 1/8 SE at the playground. Riding past the paved parking spots you will see the white building. Water fountain located at the East side, right at the start of the trail. Photos can be taken if needed

The Fort Fraser Trail is a 12-foot-wide, 7 3/4 mile long paved trail devoted to Polk County residents who enjoy walking, jogging, and bicycling. It is constructed along the abandoned CSX railroad line running parallel to U.S. 98 between State Road 540 (Winter Lake Road) in Lakeland and just south of State Road 60 in Bartow. There are two trailheads; one is located at the PCC/USF campus behind the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Substation. The other is located in Highland City; it has restroom facilities and picnic pavilions

Thanks, soflakettwiesel. I've added that info to the Polk County page. Pepper and I are definitely going to check that trail out this summer.

Great site! My husband and I have been enjoying Merritt Island Refuge. None of it is paved but it sure is enjoyable to watch all the wildlife. It represents the real Florida, not the one with the mouse.

RE: Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park
>>> There is no water on the trail, so be sure to top off your supply before you start...
We rode thru Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park on May 8, 2009.
Water coolers and cups are placed at Some of the rest areas.
A very nice addition to a wonderful place to relax and ride.
Feel free to use any on my pictures you like.
Glad to see your out riding again.

FWIW: 2/10ths mile SOUTH of the Polk City trailhead (Gen Van Fleet trail) is the newly paved TECO trail extension in Polk City.
The TECO-Auburndale trail is 6.75 miles from SR33 in Polk City to Denton Rd in Auburndale. Florida has plans to pave the connection between the two trail later this year.
